PAUL EDWARD MAKOWESKI 1931 - 2011 After a very courageous battle with cancer, and his family by his side, Paul passed away November 14, 2011 at the Bethesda Hospital. Paul is survived by his wife Joyce, of 56 years, children Peter (Marcia), Carol (Rick), Tony (Chris) and his granddaughters Tessa and Sierra. He was predeceased by his father Peter, his mother Anna, sisters Mary and Sally, brother Johnny, and his granddaughter Jessica. Dad was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer in August of 2010 it brought a whole new dimension to his life. It would be true to say it was the best of times and it was the worst of times. The bucket list changes when your life is in jeopardy, not so much doing but rather being. Really being with people you love and family. Scars left unseen, adventures yet undone. Dad was a very hard working man. He had to farm the family farm at the age of 14 and years later with his son Tony. He was very proud of his farm and his cattle which he had to sell in March 2011. This devastated him but he got over it and went on to sell the farm in June 2011. On September 18 they moved into their new home in Emerson which he really enjoyed, but his stay was too short. He was the hardest worker I will ever know. He built almost everything on his own and it was always top notch . It hurt to see his health fail and he couldn't continue with daily chores. He was very proud of his strawberry patch this year which produced over 100 pails of strawberries. Dad also loved fishing and hunting with his boys. He was a collector of guns, which he was proud of and enjoyed showing to people. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Fredensthal, MB. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Overstone Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or SE Palliative Care Program. Thanks to Dr. Reimer, Dr. Trend and a special thanks to Pauline Gosselin, Palliative Home Care Nurse and all the nurses and staff at Bethesda Hospital for their excellent care and compassion over the last days.
